The Cooper Society promotes the study and appreciation of the life, works, and ideas of James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851). We aim to provide useful information to scholars, students, and readers and a venue for fellow Cooper enthusiasts to connect.

The Cooper Society was founded in 1989 (the bicentennial of Cooper's birth) to bring together scholars, students, and readers from around the world who are interested in the life and work of James Fenimore Cooper.
We offer one-year and three-year memberships.
The Cooper Society welcomes donations in any amount.
The Cooper Society is a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
The James Fenimore Cooper Society is a US 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization chartered in the state of New York. It is staffed by volunteers. Your dues sponsor Cooper Society activities including the publishing and mailing of Cooper Society publications. The James Fenimore Cooper Society values your privacy and will not sell or distribute the information you share with us to outside organizations. When you join, we request your name, address, email address, and telephone number. Payment information is processed by Paypal; no credit card or Paypal account information is shared with us. Paypal does provide name, address, telephone number, and email address information with confirmation of a transaction; Paypal also informs us whether or not a customer has completed the Paypal verification process and/or has a confirmed bank account on record with Paypal (neither is required by us, and again, we receive no account information).
